Coastal Community Citizens will host “A Conversation on Climate Change for Coastal Communities†on Friday, September 27 at the Robert DeLeo Senior Center in Winthrop, Massachusetts from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Featuring Ellen Douglas, PhD and Massachusetts State Representative Frank Smizik. Also speaking are environmental experts from Harvard Medical School and 350MA.org. Refreshments will be served. Free.
Featured speaker will be Ellen Douglas, PE, PhD, Associate Professor of Hydrology, Hydromorphology, Water Resource Management, School for the Environment, College of Science and Mathematics at University of Massachusetts, Boston
Dr. Douglas’s interests include quantifying the water-related impacts of climate change in the Northeast. In addition to leading ongoing projects worldwide, Dr. Douglas is actively working on communities’ adaptation strategies to climate change in the Northeastern U.S. with a focus on storm water and coastal flooding impacts.
Representative Frank I. Smizik is the Chair of the State House Committee on Global Warming and Climate Change. Representative Smizik’s comments will include health impacts of climate change.
Environmental experts from Harvard Medical School and 350MA.org will also present at our forum. Following the presentations, our panel will discuss solutions and initiatives and take questions from the audience. Representative Smizik will moderate.
