We want to congratulate and wish Police Chief Terence Delehanty the best of luck as he begins his 10-week training and education program at the National FBI Academy in Virginia. This is a tremendous recognition of our chief’s talents as he was accepted to this prestigious program where he will attend classes and seminars to enhance his knowledge and acquire new crime fighting and administrative techniques.
Chief Delehanty has been at the forefront of the technological and collaborative efforts that now constitute the profession. The department’s recent efforts in dismantling illegal drug operations in the town was but one example of how the Chief and his department are working hard every day to make Winthrop a safe community for all residents.
What we’ve always liked about our Chief is his high visibility in the community and as a leader of a family, he is completely involved in the day-to-day life of this town, its residents, and our students.
We know he will work diligently at the FBI Academy and bring back new ideas and concepts that will help our town in the future.
And while the Chief is away, he will keep in touch on a daily basis with Interim Executive Officer Lt. Frank Scarpa, another highly capable administrator and police officer.
