Police Issue Wanted Notice for Local Drug Dealer

Winthrop Police Chief Terence Delehanty released a wanted poster Tuesday for a suspected drug dealer and IV drug user. The suspect was arrested in Winthrop last Friday and charged with five counts of drug crimes, after a well-being of a child check at his residence uncovered drugs, money and other evidence against him.

Aaron Desplaines, 33, most recently of 180 Stanley Street in Winthrop is wanted on Class A and B drug offenses, after he fled his arraignment. According to information provided by Winthrop Police, Desplaines may be in possession of a handgun, and is believed to be traveling in a tan Kia rental car with out of state license plates. The suspect is known to frequent the Chelsea area.

Desplaines was arrested last Friday, April 15, after officers responding to a request for a well-being of a minor check at his home, and found drugs and other paraphernalia in plain sight.

“After securing the area where the items were first observed, the occupants signed a search consent form and a more thorough search of the apartment was performed,” said Chief Delehanty.

Desplaines was then placed into custody and charged with one count each of possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to sell heroin, drug violations in a school zone, possession of a class E substance and possession of marijuana.

“I am extremely appreciative of the professionalism and collaborative work of the patrol force and the detective division,” said Delehanty. “Without the alertness of the first responding officers, this case might not have gotten to the point that it did. All of the officers involved should be applauded for the hard work and diligent efforts that were put into this case.”

Among the evidence seized from the apartment during the search was cocaine, heroin, scales, needles and materials used to sell and package the drugs.
