Tourney Journey – Brown’s Team Heads Back to the Postseason

We’ve taken for granted the annual post-season invitation that Winthrop High basketball coach David Brown and his program secure every season. Once again coach Brown and his Vikings will be playing in the MIAA State Tournament.

Winthrop is the smallest school in the Northeastern Conference, but it hasn’t deterred the Viking hoopmen from often defeating the much larger schools in the league. We’re not sure when a coach becomes a “legend” in schoolboy basketball ranks, but coach Brown has taken Winthrop to the brink of state championships year after year.

Perhaps this might be the year that Winthrop “wins it all,” but even if not, another successful season once again has affirmed Dave Brown’s legacy as one of the finest coaches ever to lead a Winthrop boys basketball team.

Congratulations, Vikings, and good luck come March Madness.
