Free Kindergarten – At long last, the dream is now a reality

That was great news for parents of kindergarten age students when the School Committee voted to bring free, all-day kindergarten to the town at the start of the coming school year (2010-11). The previous School Committee had been seeking to bring such a program to the town (when parents had been paying $2,300 a year for the privilege) and now, thanks to the past and present committee’s efforts, it will be a reality.

Committee member William Holden reportedly was especially instrumental in getting this accomplished and we know we join with all Winthrop parents in expressing our delight that they have this wonderful option for their children.
