Let the campaigns begin.

The list of candidates for the November 3 town election has been finalized after the passing of the deadline Tuesday for the submission of nomination papers.
Susan Bolster, Winthrop’s representative on the Northeastern Regional School Committee, submitted her papers for the position of Town Council President, joining previously announced candidates, Barbara A. Survilas and Jeffrey R. Turco in the race.

The three candidates are vying for the position that has been held by Council President Thomas Reilly for the past four years.

Precinct 5 Councillor Russell Sanford, who had considered a run for council president, will not have an opponent for his seat in the November election. Precinct 3 Councillor Nicholas DelVento will have a challenger, Laraine Mitchell, in his bid to return to the council. Mitchell also submitted papers for the Councillor-at-Large race. Todd Sacco and Joseph Larry Powers are also candidates in the race for the Councillor-at-Large position previously held by retiring Councillor Joseph Ferrino Jr. Sacco is also a candidate in the School Committee race.

Paul Varone was the only candidate to submit papers for the Precinct 1 Councillor position that is currently held by retiring Councillor Richard Gill.
