Retired USPS Supervisor and longtime Little League Coach who had a remarkable ability to bring smiles and laughter to those around him
Robert G. Summa, 74, of Winthrop, passed away on April 1, 2026. Born on August 5, 1951, in Boston, he was the beloved son of the late Elena (Forte) and Gaspar Summa. Robert dedicated over 38 years of his life to the United States Postal Service, ultimately achieving the position of supervisor. His commitment and service to the community were unwavering.
A passionate fan of Boston sports, Robert especially cherished the Boston Red Sox. His enthusiasm for the teams was infectious, bringing joy to those around him. Alongside his love for sports, Robert gave back to the community by coaching Little League for many years, even taking on a role as a coach for District Little League. His impact on the young athletes he mentored will be fondly remembered.
Music played a significant role in Robert’s life, particularly the disco era, and he was often the life of the party with his quick wit and sense of humor. Known as a jokester among his friends and family, Robert had a remarkable ability to bring smiles and laughter to those around him.
He was the devoted husband of Christina (Spinnazola) and the loving father of Christopher Summa and his fiancé, Jamie of Winthrop; dear brother of the late Barbara Sullivan-Summa, Joseph Summa and Stephen Summa; loving brother-in-law of Louis Spinnazola and Phyllis T. Spinnazola and cherished grandfather of Robert Giovanni. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the Caggiano-O’Maley-Frazier Funeral Home, Winthrop on Friday, April 10 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon followed by a service in the funeral home at 12 noon. Interment will be private.

Jeanne DelloRusso
Her kindness and giving nature will be fondly remembered by all who knew her
Jeanne (Merlino) DelloRusso, a lifelong resident of Winthrop, passed away unexpectedly on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026. She was 70 years old.
Jeanne was a cherished daughter of the late Mary (Blundo) and James G. Merlino, and a beacon of light for her whole family. She was a proud graduate of St. John the Evangelist School in 1969 and Winthrop High School in 1973. Her warmth and generosity were reflected in her relationships with family and friends, whom she cherished dearly.
No matter where she was working, whether at Bucci Grinding Group, Shirley Hardware, or the Bay View Nursing Home, Jeanne was known for her infectious smile and warmth.
Jeanne had a passion for walking and was often seen power walking throughout Winthrop. She enjoyed hiking in New Hampshire, biking down the Cape, birdwatching with Brian, and being out in nature. She was an avid gardener and was particularly fond of her Christmas cacti which bloomed all year. Jeanne found great joy in antiquing with her sister, Jo Ann and decorating her home with the many treasures she found along the way. A devoted New England Patriots fan, she was known for her spirited support of the team.
Jeanne’s kindness and giving nature will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will continue to inspire her family and friends.
Jeanne was the devoted wife of Brian DelloRusso. She was his world and the love of his life. She was the loving mother of Stefanie Ingersoll, Nicholas Ingersoll, Brian DelloRusso and Alicia DelloRusso; dear sister of Jo Ann Rogers and her husband, John, James Merlino, Jr. and his wife, Christina, John Merlino and Jennifer Michaud and her husband, Rich’; cherished grandmother of Rachael, Olivia, Samantha, Addison, Nicholas Jr., Ayla, Nolan, Mackenzie, Emily, Maxwell, and Lorelei. She is also survived by one great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
Jeanne will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the Caggiano-O’Maley-Frazier Funeral Home, Winthrop on Friday, April 10, 2026 from 4 to 7 p.m. The funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in St. John the Evangelist Church, 320 Winthrop St., Winthrop at 12:30 p.m. Services will conclude with the interment in the Belle Isle section of Winthrop Cemetery.
Alvera Kalinksy
Longtime Winthrop Resident
Alvera L. Kalinsky of Winthrop passed away on March 27, 2026. She was 89 years old. Born in Everett, she was the beloved daughter of the late Hilda and John Coleman. She was a longtime Winthrop resident.
She was the loving mother of Robyn Taylor, Anton Kalinsky, Alvera Cimmino and her husband Jay, Patrick Kalinsky and the late Richard Kalinsky; dear sister of the late Hilda Speranza, Mary Hagerty, John Coleman, Charles Coleman and Warren Coleman. She is also survived by five grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
