Marino provides first update of 2026

Town Manager Tony Marino provided a short update to the town council this week on several ongoing projects and issues.

“The Revere Street TIP project continues as they work on switching over to the new traffic lights and installing solar controls on the streetlights, so they go off during the daytime hours.” Marino stated. “The curb and concrete work will resume in the Spring of 2026.”

The town manager noted that the work on the new fire station continues as architectural firm Kaestle Boos continues to work on the design plans and completion of the asbestos abatement work at the old middle school and auditorium.

“All windows will be removed by Wednesday of this week,” he stated. “The demolition of the buildings will begin at the end of the week.”

Real estate tax bills that were sent out last week include the increase for the Proposition 2-½ override for the schools, Marino stated.

“The first two bills for FY26 did not include the increase as we did not set the tax rate,” he stated. “The total increase for FY26 will be billed over the final two bills of the fiscal year which ends on June 30, 2026. The tax bills starting in July 2026 for FY27 will include the Proposition 2-½ override and be billed over all four quarters.”

Marino also noted that the dredging work at Fishermen’s Bend, being completed by Northeast Mosquito Control, will begin this week and the dredging material will be hauled away by the town’s public works crew.
