Paul Alfred Stathos

He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him

Paul Alfred Stathos, 89, of Malden passed away peacefully, at home, on Friday, December 19, 2025.

Beloved husband, father, papa, brother and uncle, Paul loved his family dearly. Born May 4, 1936 in Malden to Sylvia Pitts (Leone) and Anthony Stathopoulos, Paul was the fourth of seven children and was a devoted brother, willing to do anything to help his siblings.

Paul enjoyed nothing more than a nice glass of red wine. He loved any sweet treat or dessert and would slice off the tiniest serving (multiple times) or claim he was only having one cookie only to be caught sneaking more. Paul loved to golf and could be found practicing his swing out in the yard, sometimes without a club. An avid pianist, he would always be playing his keyboard and could play any song you presented him with. Paul loved dogs and dogs always loved him too. He was quick to sneak them food and always had one of the family’s dogs by his side.

Paul enjoyed spending his winters in Fort Lauderdale, Florida with his wife,. Connie who he loved so very much. August 14, they celebrated 70 beautiful years of marriage.

Paul served in the Army and was honorably discharged in 1964. He then spent most of his life a salesman before owning a liquor store with his wife. After selling the liquor store Paul spent his time bartending at the Lenox Hotel in Boston, a job he loved as he got to share his passion for wine.

What Paul loved most of all was his family. The best Papa in the world, his grandchildren, were the light of his life. He was always asking who loved you the most and the answer was always “Papa.”

He was always quick to compliment you and appreciated a “snazzy” outfit. He always let you know that he thought you were beautiful.

Paul is survived by his wife Connie (Demasi), daughter Andrea Caggiano and her husband, Peter of Winthrop, son Paul Stathos and his wife Nancy of Malden, granddaughter Ariana Daniels and her husband Tommy of Winthrop, grandson Peter Caggiano of Miami Beach, FL, granddaughter Mary Stathos of Somerville, and granddaughter Grace Stathos and her fiancé Chris Barker of Malden.

He is also survived by his brothers Dennis Stathos of Fort Myers, FL, Robert Statho of Ipswich, sister Elaine Zani of Wakefield, and brother-in-law Richard Jarvis of Peabody. He is preceded in death by his brothers John Statho, Angelo Stathopoulos and Anthony Martin and brother-in-law James Demasi. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
