Winthrop Improvement & Historical Association Presents its 2025 Ornament

Special to the Transcript

There is something so special about living in our coastal community during the holidays. From the WIHA buoy tree at Crest Ave to the lighted rigging on the sailboats moored in the harbor, to individual neighborhoods, nautica-themed decorations are everywhere. This year’s WHA omament, “Holiday Harbor”, captures it all.

Joanna Ciampa, the renowned local artist and designer, collaborated with WIHA President Michael Herbert for this year’s ornament. The design evolved over a cup of coffee and a doodle on a napkin. It features a colorful lobster boat, lighted traps and lighted ship’s masts. This is WIHA’s 114 year of presenting beautiful keepsake ornaments for sale and we are proud to add Joanna Campa’s artwork to the collection.

The “Holiday Harbor” ornament is available at Webster First Federal Credit Union, Shirley True Value Hardware, Woodside Ace Hardware, the Winthrop Book Depot, Simon’s Winthrop Book Store, the Winthrop Public Library, the Winthrop Meat Market, Swett’s Liquors, the Senior Center and the Clock Tower Gallery at the E.B. Newton.

The price per ornament is $10. All proceeds benefit the Deane Winthrop House.
