Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 4 for the Winthrop town election.
There are contested races for Town Council President, several council seats, housing authority, and library trustee on the ballot.
Due to the demolition of the old middle school to make way for the new fire station, there will also be a change in polling locations for most Winthrop voters for this election.
For the Nov. 4 election, voters from Precincts 1, 2, and 5 will vote in the Winthrop High School cafeteria. Voters from Precincts 3 and 6 will vote in the Winthrop Middle School Cafeteria.
The entrance for all voters in those precincts will be through the high school, where they will check in and then be directed to the proper polling location.
Precinct 4 voters will continue to vote at O’Connell Hall on Golden Drive.
On the ballot, incumbent Town Council President Jim Letterie is being challenged by current Council Vice President Hannah Belcher for a two-year term.
The race for the single four-year councilor-at-large seat on the ballot this year is between Celeste Ribeiro Hewitt and Kurt Millar.
In Precinct 1, incumbent Councilor Pat Costigan is running unopposed.
The Precinct 2 Council race for the currently vacant seat is between Michael Kinlin and Kim Dimes.
In Precinct 3, Joseph Romano and Elizabeth “Betsy” Shane are running for the council seat currently held by Belcher.
In Precinct 5, incumbent Councilor Joseph Aiello is being challenged by Paul Reardon.
The school committee will see three new members after the election, as Kaitlin Burroughs, Shannon Kubik, and Leslie Darcy are on the ballot for the three openings.
There are four candidates running for three positions as library trustees. Incumbent Gillian Teixeria is joined on the ballot by Cynthia Hastings, Bill Schmidt, and Grace Kingsberry.
There is also a Housing Authority race for a single seat between incumbent Peter Gill and Erin Barcellos.
