Winthrop takes part in prescription drug take back day

The Drug Enforcement Agency’s National Take Back Day for prescription drugs is this Saturday, Oct. 25.

Locally, residents can return their old or unused prescription drugs to the Winthrop Police Station.

Too often, unused prescription drugs find their way into the wrong hands, leading to dangerous and tragic results, according to the DEA.

The agency stated that thousands of people from across the country have cleaned out their medicine cabinets and turned in – safely and anonymously – a record amount of prescription drugs.
