Angela Maura Levy

FedEx Retiree of South Yarmouth, formerly of Winthrop

 Angela Maura (Nalieri) Levy of South Yarmouth and formerly of Winthrop, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025 after a brief illness. Born on January 7, 1957, she was the fourth daughter of the late Mary (Honan) and Joseph Nalieri.

A nearly lifelong resident of Winthrop, Angela spent her 43-year career working for FedEx as an importer, where she shared countless laughs with lasting friends. After living in Winthrop for 65 years, she retired to her South Yarmouth “beach house” where she kicked back, relaxed and enjoyed new friendships later in life.

Angela is survived by her loving husband and best friend, Howie, to whom she was married for 43 years; and her sisters, Patricia Bain of Needham and Mary Ann Cash and Jane Nalieri, both of Winthrop.

She had a great love for her nephews: Ed, Billy and Kevin Cash; Scott Rosen; Eric and Adam Halperin and for her niece, Elizabeth Bain. That love expanded to her grandnephew, Kyle Cash, who knew her fondly as “LaLa” and her grandnieces, Tulsi and Nila Bain Naren.

The funeral was conducted from the Caggiano-O’Maley-Frazier Funeral Home, Winthrop on Wednesday, September 17, 2025. Services concluded with the interment in the Cross Street section of Winthrop Cemetery.

Nina Eizabeth McDonald

She and her husband, Richard were the former proprietors of Heights Donuts

Nina Elizabeth (Walsh) McDonald of Winthrop, formerly of East Boston and the Beachmont section of Revere, died on September 11, 2025.

The beloved wife of the late Richard E. McDonald, she was the loving mother of Linda Cohen and her husband, David of Winthrop and Richard McDonald and his wife. Jacqueline (White) of Waltham; grandmother of Kenny, Cameron his wife. Cayla and Isabella; great-grandmother of Madison and Hazel; sister of Joan Headle and the late Anna Jane Lindquist, Barbara Hansen, James Walsh, Joseph Walsh, Marie Boyd and Kathleen Savage and sister-in-law of Rosemarie (Ferragamo) Murray and Jayne Walsh.  She is also survived by two generations of nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the Magrath Funeral Home, 336 Chelsea St. [at Day Sq] EAST BOSTON on Friday, September 19 from 5 -to 7 p.m. and a  Funeral Mass on Saturday morning, September 20 at St. Michael the Archangel Parish, St. John the Evangelist Church, 320 Winthrop St., Winthrop at 9:45 a.m.  Interment will follow in the Belle Isle Section of Winthrop Cemetery.

Nina and her husband, Richard were the former proprietors of Heights Donuts.  She was a retired administrator for Verizon Communications. Nina held many part-time jobs over the years.  She was a lunch lady at Northeast Vocational Tech, secretary at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Beachmont and at Schair’s Fuel. Nina enjoyed spending time at the Winthrop Senior Center, St. John’s Women’s Club and the Ladies Card Club with her friends.

Warren Whitney Magoon

He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and deep-rooted family values

Warren Whitney Magoon, 84, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025, in Reading, Massachusetts. A devoted husband, loving father and brother, cherished grandfather and passionate gardener, Warren leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and deep-rooted family values.

Born on April 25, 1941, in Boston, Warren was raised in Winthrop and graduated from Winthrop High School in 1958. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Boston University in 1962. His education laid the foundation for a successful career marked by dedication and leadership.

Warren began his professional journey as an HR Manager at State Street Bank in Boston, where he worked for over 18 years. His commitment to helping others find meaningful work led him to establish his own employment leasing company, The Career Store in Wakefield.

After retiring from his business endeavors, Warren continued to stay active by supportinghis  wife at her company, M.P. & Co. Tax and Financial Services in East Boston and Wakefield.

Warren is survived by his beloved wife, Grace (Previte) Magoon, with whom he shared over 60 years of unwavering love and partnership. Together they built a beautiful life filled with warmth, tradition, and enduring devotion. Grace was the light of his life, his bride and very best friend. He was the proud father of Matt Magoon and his wife, Kerri, of Wakefield and Greg Magoon and his wife, Karen, of Holliston. Warren’s greatest joy came from his role as “Papa” to his adored grandchildren: Brayden, Camden, and Emmelyn of Wakefield; and Hannah, Brenton, Colby, and Ryan Magoon of Holliston. He never missed an opportunity to cheer them on from the sidelines or share his thoughts on the game.

Warren is also survived by his brother Norman Magoon and his wife, Susan, of Yarmouth, Maine, along with several other relatives who meant the world to him. He was predeceased by his parents, Lloyd and Florence Magoon of Winthrop.

A man of many passions, Warren found peace and purpose in gardening—cultivating both flowers and memories in his yard. He was also a devoted sports fan who proudly supported all local Boston teams. His love for community service was evident through his involvement as a proud member of the Rotary Club of Wakefield. He also served on the School Committee, acted as Chairman of the Wakefield Disability Commission, and coached various Wakefield youth sports teams throughout the years, including baseball, basketball, and soccer.

 Warren will be remembered for his kind heart, steady presence, and quiet strength. He leaves behind a family deeply grateful for the love he gave so freely and the lessons he imparted through both words and actions. His memory will live on in every garden bloom he once tended and every cheer from the stands he once gave. Warren Whitney Magoon will be missed beyond measure and remembered always.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on September 4, 2025, at St. Joseph Parish, in Wakefield. Interment was at Puritan Lawn Cemetery in Peabody.

Arrangements were in the care of the McDonald Funeral Home, Wakefield.

Arthur “Dr. Lorax” Charles Costonis PhD

He was passionate about dendrology and arboriculture and shared his wealth of knowledge with those he loved

Arthur ‘Dr. Lorax’ Charles Costonis PhD, 91, of Pemigewasset Shores Drive, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, September 12, 2025. Arthur was born on July 10, 1934, in Winthrop, the son of Arthur and Sylvia (Bonnaccorso) Costonis. He was a man of many hobbies. He enjoyed fly fishing, painting and was an award winning wood carver. He kept the gardens at his house beautiful and was known to regularly make bouquets for his wife. He was passionate about dendrology and arboriculture and shared his wealth of knowledge with those he loved.

He is survived by his beloved wife Madeline (Ward) Costonis; his children: Arthur Costonis, Jr., and his wife, Sandra, Marcus Costonis, Lizbeth Wood, Patricia Sebilion, Anthony Verduga and Shayna McKay, many grandchildren and many siblings. In addition to his parents, Arthur is predeceased by many siblings.

There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at 10 a.m. in the Carriage House at Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau[1]Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH 03246. Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home & Cremation Services/603Cremations.com, Laconia, NH, is assisting the family with arrangements.
