Gloria Duval

 She was a beacon of love and strength for her family, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and devotion  

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gloria M. Duval, who departed from this world on December 22, 2024 at her home in Winthrop. Gloria was born on December 24, 1928 in Tewksbury to the late Lillian G. (Pitts) and James Farren. A dedicated and cherished daughter, Gloria was a longtime resident of Winthrop, where she ventured into entrepreneurship by owning her own ceramics business. Her adventurous spirit led her to always embrace new experiences, embodying a zest for life that inspired those around her. Gloria found joy in exploring the world through travel and treasured moments spent with her children and grandchildren. She was a beacon of love and strength for her family, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and devotion. Within her community, Gloria was an esteemed member of the Cottage Park Yacht Club, where she served as the president of the Women’s Bowling League. Additionally, she was an active participant in the Winthrop Catholic Women’s Club, contributing her time and efforts to various charitable endeavors. Gloria M. Duval will be deeply missed by all who knew her as her warmth, generosity and unwavering spirit continue to resonate in the hearts of those she leaves behind. May her legacy of love and resilience serve as a guiding light for generations to come. She was the devoted wife of the late Ernest H. Duval and the loving mother of Michele Moran and her husband, Patrick of Chicago, John Duval and his wife, Cathie of Topsfield, Denise Duval of Venice Beach, FL, Paul Duval and his wife, Anne of Rockport, Patrice Dorsi and her husband, Gerry of Winthrop and Thomas Duval and his wife, Shari of Boxford; dear sister of the late John Farren and Geraldine Farren. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. The funeral was conducted from the Caggiano-O’Maley-Frazier Funeral Home, Winthrop on Monday, December 30 followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church.
