Longtime resident of Winthrop
Danielle Aucella Dichiara of Winthrop passed away at home on December 16, 2024. She was 49 years old.
Born in Boston, she was the beloved daughter of the Sheila (Barry) and the late Albert Aucella. A long-time resident of Winthrop, she worked as a realtor for many years. She also worked as a restaurant manager at Logan Airport.
The loving mother of Michael, Salvatore and Dominic Dichiara, she was the devoted fiancé of Robert Impemba and his daughter Taylor Impemba; dear sister of Janine Sujko and beloved niece of Maureen Barry and the late Joseph, cousin of Eric and Courtney Barry and aunt of Taylor and Nicholas Sujko.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Saturday, December 21 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 320 Winthrop St., Winthrop at 11:30 a.m. Committal will be private.

Patricia Daly

Patricia (Macrina) Daly, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on July 27, 1951, Patricia, known as Patty, grew up in East Boston, where she formed lifelong bonds with her friends and community. Family was her greatest joy and she cherished every moment spent with her loved ones.
Patricia is survived by her devoted husband, Jim, of Winthrop; her son, Brandon, and his wife, Jessica, of Boynton Beach, FL; and her daughter, Lauren, and her husband, Jeremy Taylor, of Stoneham. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Devon, Piper, Samuel, William, and Ella, who were the light of her life.
She is also survived by her siblings: Richard and his wife, Janet, of North Reading; Joseph and his wife, Diane, of Gray, ME; Marsha and her husband, David DiCesare, of East Boston; and Michael of East Boston. Additionally, she leaves behind her sister-in-law Valerie and her husband, Richard Morgan, of Swampscott, along with numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Patricia was predeceased by her parents, Dominic and Martha Macrina of East Boston.
Patricia will be remembered for her strong spirit, her incredible talent for bringing people together through food, and the beautiful way she made everyone around her feel valued and loved.
A celebration of Patricia’s life will be held in the spring to honor her memory and the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.
David Neil Fleming, Jr.
He leaves behind a legacy of honor, hard work, and a genuine love for the sea
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Daniel Neil Fleming, Jr., a life-long resident of Winthrop. Neil, as he was known to many, was born in Boston on February 23, 1942, and peacefully passed away in Peabody on December 10, 2024.
A proud graduate of The Rivers School, Neil continued his education at Maine Maritime, where he honed his skills and passion for engineering. He dedicated his service to the nation as a member of the Navy Reserve, achieving the rank of Lieutenant through his commitment and dedication.
Neil’s career as a Chief Engineer for the Merchant Marines was marked by excellence and expertise, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of working with him. Beyond his professional achievements, he was a cherished member of the Cottage Park Yacht Club, where he shared his love for the sea with friends and family.
Daniel Neil Fleming, Jr. will be remembered for his unwavering dedication, his remarkable achievements, and the warmth and kindness he extended to all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of honor, hard work, and a genuine love for the sea and sailing that will continue to inspire those he touched.
May his soul find peace at the eternal harbor, and may his memory be a beacon of light for those who mourn his loss. Rest in peace.
He was the beloved son of the late Dorothy R. (Corballis) and Daniel N. Fleming, Sr. He was the dear brother of Eleanor Nugent of Florida, Marjorie Donohoe of Virginia and the late Dorothy O’Neil. He is also survived by several loving nieces, nephews and family friend, Sheryl Coughlin.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the Caggiano-O’Maley-Frazier Funeral Home, Winthrop on Friday, December 20 from 10 a.m. to 12 p,m. onoon followed by a funeral service in the funeral home at 12 noon. Services will conclude with the interment in the Cross Street section of Winthrop Cemetery.

Burton David Figler
Worked in the Electro-Optics Field
Burton David Figler of Winthrop, formerly of Chelsea, died on December 8, 2024.
Burton Figler is survived by his beloved wife, Clare Spector Figler and his two adoring daughters, Aviva Raquel Figler and her husband, Douglas Olson and Elena Shana Figler and her partner, James Colbert.; the loving grandfather of Jacob Maxwell Buchholz and Aislyn Eileen Colbert and “bonus” grandchildren Adam, Jared, and Lauren Colbert.
Burton was born in Chelsea. He attended Chelsea schools and graduated from Chelsea Senior High School. He received a bachelor’s and master’s degree from MIT in Aeronautics and Astronautics and then an MBA from Northeastern University. Until his retirement, he worked primarily in the field of electro-optics at MIT, Sanders Associates, TechOps, Aerodyne Products Corporation, Honeywell, Lockheed Martin, Loral and BAE Systems.
Following his marriage to Clare Spector of San Antonio, Texas, Burton and his family resided in Winthrop.
Mr. Figler was a member of Temple Tifereth Israel of Winthrop. In addition, he was a member of the following organizations: American Red Magen David for Israel (ARMDI), B’nai B’rith International, World Jewish Congress, National Yiddish Book Center, American Association of Retired Person (AARP), American Diabetes Association, MIT Alumni Association, Northeastern University MBA Association, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA), American Army Aviation Association (AAAA), Association of Old Crows (AOD), and Society of Photographic and Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE).
Services were held at Torf Funeral Chapel, 151 Washington Ave, Chelsea on Wednesday, December 11 and interment followed at the New Temple Tifereth Israel of Winthrop Cemetery, 232 Fuller Street, Everett.
