The Winthrop High School Viking hockey team recently joined forces with the Mi-Amore Food Pantry to make the holidays brighter for local families. Team members volunteered their time to load trucks with turkeys and Thanksgiving fixings, personally delivering the items to families’ homes. This heartfelt effort is just one example of how the Viking hockey boys are making a positive impact in the community.
In addition to their Thanksgiving initiative, the team is partnering with CASA for a toy donation drive to support families affected by domestic violence. Community members are encouraged to contribute to this cause by dropping off new, unwrapped toys in the donation box located at the hockey rink. The deadline for toy donations is December 15.
As the holiday season gets underway, the Viking boys are also gearing up to kick off their hockey season this week. Fans are invited to come down to the Lawrence Larson Rink at the Mike Eruzione Center in Winthrop to cheer on the team and show their support. It’s a great opportunity to enjoy a game while celebrating the team’s dedication to both the sport and their community.
