Results of the biggest contested race on the Republican ballot mirrored the overall state primary results in Winthrop in Tuesday’s state primary election.
In the race to face Democratic incumbent Senator Elizabeth Warren, Republican John Deaton took about 65 percent of the vote statewide. In Winthrop, Deaton finished with 342 votes to 231 for Robert Antonellis and 47 for Ian Cain.
Warren ran unopposed in the Democratic primary and received 1,415 votes.
There were no other contested races on the Republican ballot, and only one other office with a candidate.
Jenna Marie Tamas tallied 462 votes and will face incumbent state Senator Lydia Edwards in November.
Edwards ran unopposed on the Democratic ballot and picked up 1,358 votes.
The Democratic primary also saw state Representative Jeff Turco running unopposed for another term. He will also run unopposed in November.
Congresswoman Katherine Clark ran unopposed in the Democratic primary and will not face a challenger in the general election.
There were several contested races further down the ballot in the Democratic primary.
In Winthrop, Erin Murphy topped Allison Cartwright 827 to 719 in the race for the Clerk of Court in Suffolk County. John E. Powers topped Faustina Gabriel in town in the race for Clerk of Superior Court, Civil Business.
