Paul Joltki

GE retiree, Driver for American Cancer Society and Manager of Malden’s St. Peter’s Church Food Pantry

Paul C. Joltki, 82, of Winthrop passed away at home on December 18.

Born in Boston, the beloved son of the late Apollonia (Pohorecka) and Steven Joltki and a resident of Winthrop for over a year, he previously lived in the Old West End of Boston and in Malden. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a welder for General Electric in Lynn. He was an avid reader and WWII buff. He also loved to tell stories of growing up in the Old West End and sharing his stories of traveling to Europe. He was a driver for the American Cancer Society taking patients to their treatments and he also managed the Food Pantry at St Peter’s Church in Malden.   He was a long-time neighbor host for the St. Rocco’s Feast in Malden, a former board member for the West End Museum and a member of the Malden Elks.

The devoted husband of the late Virginia V. (Kobylarz) and the loving father of Michael Joltki and his wife, Darlene of Winthrop, Michelle Scorzella and her husband, Marc of Winthrop and the late Susan Joltki, he was the dear brother of Steven Joltki and his wife, Carol of Winthrop and the late Olga Kasinowicz and her husband, Charles and Mishel Joltki; cherished Papa of Andrew, Ashley, Emily, Grace and Olivia and great grandfather of Paul Joseph, Angelo, Paisley, Gunner, Jaxson and Taylor-May. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. 

The funeral was conducted from the Caggiano-O’Maley-Frazier Funeral Home, Winthrop on Wednesday, December 22 followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church. Committal was private.

James Angelo Buono

Late Commission Judge for Mass. State Racing Commission

James Angelo Buono of East Boston passed away on December 17. He was the late Commission Judge for the Massachusetts State Racing Commission. The beloved husband of Rita (LaVertue) Buono, he was the loving father of James Buono and his wife, Suzane of Melrose, Jared Buono of East Boston, John Marzilli and his wife, Kristine of Wilmington and Renee Waters and her husband, William of Plymouth; dear brother of Francine Billet of New York, Rosalind E. Faretra of Winthrop and the late Leopold “Butchy” Buono. He is also survived by five loving grandchildren: Cameron, Kai, Lily, Kael and James. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours at the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga St. (Orient Heights) East Boston today, Thursday at 10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral procession to St. Joseph-St. Lazarus Church, 59 Ashley St., East Boston for a Funeral Mass to be celebrated in his honor at 12 noon. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
