The Winthrop Republican Town Committee presented an extremely informative  and successful Meet the Candidates Night last Thursday at the Point Shirley Association. Fifteen local candidates participated including Council President candidates Phil Boncore and Jim Letterie; Council Candidates: Rob DeMarco, Richard Fucillo, Hannah Belcher, Amy Pascar; School Committee candidates: Julie Barry, Celeste Heinonen, Suzanne Leonard, Brianna Molloy, Layne Petrie, Jennifer Powell; Library Trustee candidates: Marie Mattarazzo, Gillian Teixeira and Alyssa True.Â
Those who missed this event can view the video at WRTC Facebook page, Winthrop Votes Facebook page, the WCAT channel, and on YouTube. At this event all candidates described their candidacy with a two minute address, then Council and School Committee answered two important questions on Critical Race Theory and finance, or Critical Race Theory and school performance. Then the candidates met one to one with those attending. Chairman Paul Caruccio stated, “The WRTC executed another outstanding candidates night. It was impressive how eloquently and intelligently every candidate spoke. This year’s event provides an opportunity to know the candidates position on a few vital issues facing the Town. All Winthrop residents should view this production prior to casing their vote on November 2.â€
The WRTC wishes to sincerely thank the following people for making this event a huge success; the Point Shirley Association and Dr. Paul McGee, John Vitagliano for video contributions, WBZ-TV and Chief Investigative Reported Cheryl FIANDACA for Moderating, Todd and Lisa Mahoney for election support, the Ambassadors of Handicap Services Jim Nelson and Paul Ronukaitus, the WRTC members, attending voters and candidates.
