American Legion Post 146 hoisted a flag on the center breaker bar of Winthrop Beach on May 15. For 20 years, Post 146 — which has been in existence for over a century – has sponsored the flag raising as a tribute to the servicemen and women around the world who are protecting our freedom.
“The day after 9/11, the flag went up. It was a moving experience,†said Roseann Trionfi-Mazzuchelli, Director of Veterans’ Services. “It is important to remember and recognize those veterans who lost their lives on 9/11. It is with great honor and pride that we do this every year.â€
If residents would like to receive an American flag to place at a loved one’s grave, please contact Roseann at her Town Hall office, at (617) 846-3065.
