William Moore
Telecommunications Retiree
William J. “Bill†Moore, 61, of Winthrop, formerly of West Roxbury, passed away on April 27.
Born in Boston, he was the cherished son of the late Lawrence W. and Evelyn (Cavanaugh) Moore.
Prior to his retirement, Bill worked in telecommunications industry for I.B.E.W. Local 103.
Bill was the dear brother of Lawrence W. Moore of Littleton, NH, John T. Moore and his wife, Susan of Peabody, Robert F. Moore of Foxboro and Maryalice Moore of Boston.
Bill is also survived by his niece and Godchild, Shauna Moore and nieces Sheila, Pebbles, Kateri and Cheryl.
A visiting hour will be held in the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home, 210 Winthrop St., Winthrop on Saturday, May 8 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church, Winthrop at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Charles Briggs, Jr.
Retired Electrical Engineer
Charles H. Briggs Jr., 93, a lifelong resident of Winthrop, passed away peacefully on May 1. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles Sr. and Agnes Briggs, his wife of 66 years, June Evans, and his daughter, Susan.
Charlie graduated from Northeastern University. The majority of his career as an Electrical Engineer was spent at MIT Instrumentation Labs which became Draper Labs. He worked on the instrumentation for the Lunar Rover and the Trident ICBM Guidance System.
Along with his love for his family, Charlie had a passion for photography and orchids. Charlie was active in the Massachusetts Orchid Society, the Masons and the Union Congregational Church in Winthrop.
He leaves behind his children, Nancy Smith and Les Bruce of Wilmington, Joan and Clark Wamsley of Goshen, NH, John and Sue Ellen Briggs of Lexington and Ruth and John Riedeman of Grass Lake, MI. He had 10 grandchildren: Kimberley Schultz, Pamela Bruce, Matthew Haldane, Robert Howard, Ryan Howard, Jocelyn Howard, Priscilla Briggs, Nicholas Briggs, Rosamond Riedeman and Charlotte Riedeman, Charlie was blessed to know five great-grandchildren: Mason, Elizabeth, Gregory, Naomie and Jesse.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the Caggiano-O’Maley-Frazier Funeral Home, 147 Winthrop St., Winthrop today, Thursday, May 6 from 12 noon to 2 p.m. followed by a service in the funeral home at 2 p.m. Services will conclude with the interment in the Cross Street section of Winthrop Cemetery.

Rose Maiolino
Of West Yarmouth, formerly of Winthrop
Rose P. Maiolino of West Yarmouth, formerly of Winthrop, passed away at the Maplewood at Mayflower Place in Yarmouth on May 3. She was 93 years old.
Born in Winthrop she was the beloved daughter of the late Nunzia (Mollica) and Mario Conti. A resident of Yarmouth she was employed as a telephone operator for New England Telephone and worked in the Yarmouth School System. She loved to play bingo at the Senior Center in Yarmouth and loved to go out and have lunch with friends. She was also a regular at the local Dunkin Donuts where she would go with the “Girl Gang.†One of her favorite things in life was to dance and she also loved spending time with her family, especially with her grandkids.
She was the devoted wife of the late Vincent P. Maiolino, Sr. and the loving mother of Vincent P. “Skip†Maiolino of Sandwich, Nancy St. Angelo and her husband, John of Swansea and the late Peter V. Maiolino and his wife, Lisa of Middleboro; dear sister of Mario Conti of Winthrop, Marie Hewins of South Yarmouth and the late Ida Conti, Lillian Meyers and Angelo Conti; cherished grandmother of Anthony, Alexandra and Michael and great grandmother of Catherine, Nicholas, Jacob and Lucy.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the Caggiano-O’Maley-Frazier Funeral Home, 147 Winthrop St., Winthrop on Saturday, May 8 from 9 to 11 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church, 320 Winthrop St., Winthrop at 11:30 a.m. Services will conclude with interment in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
