Joseph Abramo

Member of Council 162 KofC and usher at St. John the Evangelist Church

Joseph A. Abramo, 88, of Winthrop, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 15.

Joseph worked for Raytheon for 40 years before retiring and working for the U.S. Air. He was also a U.S. Army Veteran who served during the Korean War. Joseph was a member of the Council 162 Knights of Columbus and an usher at St. John the Evangelist Church. He will truly be missed by his wonderful family, friends, and neighbors.

He was the cherished son of the late Joseph M. and Mary (Scimone) Abramo, beloved husband of 60 years of Loretta (Cataldo) Abramo, devoted father of Lori Abramo O’Meara of Lynnfield, Joseph A. Abramo Jr, and his wife, Amy of California and the late Lisa Abramo and adored grandfather of Jordan O’Meara and Gia Abramo.

Family and friends will honor Joseph’s life by gathering In Vazza‘s  â€œBeechwood” Funeral Home, 262 Beach Street, Revere today, Thursday, Dec. 19 from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 8:30 a.m. Friday morning before leaving in procession to St. John the Evangelist Church, 320 Winthrop Street in Winthrop for a Funeral Mass to be celebrated in his honor at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Winthrop Cemetery in Winthrop. Gaetano Saraceno

Member of the Augusta Club of Boston and the Revere League of Special Needs

Gaetano Saraceno of Trident Ave., Winthrop passed away at home on Dec. 14. He was 89 years old.

Born in Augusta, Sicily, Italy, he was the beloved son of the late Carmela and Giuseppe Saraceno.

A long time resident of Winthrop, he was employed as a shuttle driver for Hertz for many years. He also worked for American Biltrite, Dobbs and the United Airlines Flight Kitchen. He was a member of the Augusta Club of Boston for over 42 years and a member of the Revere League for Special Needs.

He was the devoted husband of the late Concetta (Silvestro) and the loving father of Carmela Knipe of Minnesota, Joseph Saraceno and Guy Saraceno, both of Winthrop, dear brother of Maria Serrante and her late husband, Alvaro, Concetta Saraceno, Silvio Saraceno and his wife, Milena, Domenico Saraceno and his wife, Angela and the late Luciano Saraceno and his wife, Maria and Francesco Saraceno; cherished grandfather of Daniel and Connie Knipe.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the Caggiano-O’Maley-Frazier Funeral Home, Winthrop on Saturday, Dec. 21 from 9 to 11 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church, 320 Winthrop St., Winthrop at 11:30 a.m. Services will conclude with interment in the Belle Isle section of Winthrop Cemetery.
