Zampanti Competing on Assumption’s Ice Hockey Team

The Assumption College Department of Athletics has announced that Michael Zampanti, of Winthrop, has earned a spot on the 2019-20 Men’s Ice Hockey team.

The Hounds are ranked third in the Northeast-10 Preseason Coaches’ Poll and concluded their 2018-19 season with a 15-9-3 record, marking the first time in 25 years that the program won 15 or more games in back-to-back seasons. The team finished their season with a triple-overtime loss to Saint Anselm’s in the semifinals of the NE10 Tournament, the longest game in school history at 103 minutes. Robert Roche ‘20 was named the NE10 Defensive Player of the Year while Devan Sheth ‘22 was selected as Rookie of the Year.

“Our players are ready to return to the ice to compete again for the NE10 Championship this season,” said Michael Looney ‘12, second-year head coach of the Men’s Ice Hockey team. “We have a strong, tight-knit group of student-athletes who work hard on the ice and in the classroom. I am certain that our returning seniors will lead the rookies both on and off the ice, and I am looking forward to seeing how the team progresses throughout the season.”
