Tino Capobianco Will Receive MASC Award

School Committee Chairman, Valentino Capobianco has been selected to receive the 2019 Massachusetts Association of School Committees (MASC) Division II All-State School Committee Award. The honor recognizes the many contributions that Capobianco has made to the students of the Winthrop Public Schools through his service on the school committee as well as his time spent advocating for children through the many activities that he is involved in.

In addition to his role as chairman of the school committee, Capobianco is a member of the Winthrop 2020 Census Committee, the Airport Hazards Committee, the Shore Collaborative Board of Trustees, and an elected member of the Massachusetts Democratic State Committee.

On November 7th, Capobianco will be presented with the award at the MASC Leadership Awards dinner during the MASC/MASS 2019 Joint Conference.

“I am a proud son of Winthrop,” he said. “I was able to elevate myself because of the education granted to me by the town of Winthrop. I could have gone down different career paths but I chose public service. It has been an honor to represent the residents of this town. I know our students will do great things and I cannot wait to see how incredible their accomplishments will be. I look forward to that day. I want to thank everyone involved in this process and I most importantly want to thank the residents of Winthrop.”

The goal of the MASC is to effectively promote school leadership and student achievement in Massachusetts. One of the main roles of the association is to provide professional development and act as a source of guidance and expertise to its members. In addition, the MASC helps school committees navigate their way through government leadership, media, state and federal administrative agencies related to K-12 Massachusetts public education.
