Mystic Valley Elder Services Delivers Fresh Produce to Older Adults as Part of Annual Program

Mystic Valley Elder Services (MVES) recently delivered nearly 160 bags filled with fresh fruits and vegetables to homebound older adults as part of their annual Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program.

The Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program is funded by the Mass. Department of Agricultural Resources. MVES was granted funds to purchase produce from a local farmer, Carl Hills, from Kimball Fruit Farm in Pepperell, Mass.  The program is designed to benefit local farmers and eligible low-income seniors who may not have such nutrition and fresh produce in their daily diet.

The bags of fresh produce are delivered by MVES Care Managers to identified seniors they care for in the communities of Chelsea, Everett, Malden, Medford, Melrose, North Reading, Reading, Revere, Stoneham, Wakefield and Winthrop.
