Red Sox Fans Go the Distance

Pictured are Bob Katz (formerly of Nu-Tread Tire in East Boston) who recently retired, and Charlie Tewksbury (who also retired as a pilot for FedEx). Bob and Charlie started going to Red Sox games together when they were 10 years old and classmates together in the fifth grade at the E.B. Newton school in Winthrop. Through all the years they have remained friends and have attended Red Sox games together for over 60 years. Recently on June 28 and 29 they traveled together and attended the Red Sox / Yankee games played at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Stadium in London. Tewksbury’s (a well-known name in Winthrop history) family has owned and operated the greenhouse on Bowdoin Street in Winthrop for well over 100 years! Charlie’s daughter Ashley currently operates the business and gets assistance during busy holidays from her mother and dad who currently live in Cazenovia, N.Y.
