Pooch Parade this Saturday

Dear Editor,

The Friends of the Winthrop Dog Park would like to invite the citizens of Winthrop to dress up their dogs and families and come join us for our fourth annual Pooch Parade and Costume Contest, Saturday Oct. 27, at 10 a.m. at Ingleside Park. Prizes will be awarded for the Best Dog Costume as well as for the Best Owner/Dog Costume combination. There will be vendors, raffles, prizes and fun for all ages.

Our group was organized to campaign town officials to authorize a small portion of the town’s open space for the establishment of Winthrop’s first Dog Park. We are currently working with the new town manager, Austin Faison, and other town officials trying to ensure that our community can conform with all of the requirements necessary to qualify for a variety of dog park grants that are available. The entire process is very time consuming and we appreciate all of their support.

Our group, through the help of so many dedicated citizens, has raised over $10,000, that is currently sitting in our town coffers, with town officials. This money and all of the future money, that is raised, will be used in the development, design, construction and maintenance of our future dog park. We believe in our town and are always looking for new members, to assist with this valuable and worthwhile cause.

We would like to thank all of our sponsors, for their financial contributions, as well as the endless number of Winthrop establishments that have donated goods, services and gift certificates, that we will be raffling off, on Saturday. Please come down, enjoy yourselves and show support for our puppies.

Sincerely,

Members of the Friends of the Winthrop Dog Park
