Leatrice Bloch

Active at Temple Tifereth Israel of Winthrop and B’nai Brith

Leatrice (Cohen) Bloch of Winthrop died Thursday, Feb. 22 surrounded by her family.  She was 91 years old.

Born in Boston, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Clara Cohen, she was raised and educated in Winthrop and was a graduate of Winthrop High School.

Leatrice and her late husband, Leslie owned and operated the Leslie Bloch Florist Shop in Somerville for many years. She was an active member of Temple Tifereth Israel of Winthrop and the B’Nai Brith and also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Leatrice is survived by her children: Randi Maniglia and her husband, Joseph of Winthrop and Kenneth Bloch and his wife, Angela of Maine; her grandchildren, Charliene and Jackson Fenstermaker and Jessica and Jason Carlisle, all of North Carolina, Jenny Bloch of Massachusetts, Alex Bloch and his wife, Jennifer of Virginia, her great-grandchild, Malcolm Flaherty and Eileen Leary, who was a special person in her life.

Funeral arrangements were by the Torf Funeral Chapel 151 Washington Ave., Chelsea. Burial was in Temple Ashkanez Cemetery, Everett.

David Vance Priddle

Retired NEC Corporation executive director

David Vance Priddle passed away peacefully, after a brief illness, on Feb. 22 at the age of 82, surrounded by his loving family.

Born and raised in Winthrop, he was the beloved son of Edith and Bert Priddle.

David was born on May 28, 1935. at the Winthrop Community Hospital. He started dating his beloved wife, Lorraine when at 15 they had their first date at the Topsfield Fair. They raised their family in Winthrop in the house his father built in the neighborhood they grew up in.

In his youth he would help at his family’s store – Edie’s Variety. He would tell many stories of preparing the turkeys for Thanksgiving, going to the market in Boston for groceries and drying mittens on the pot-belly stove.

He graduated from Northeastern University and received a master’s degree from Bentley University. He started his career at Sanborn Company that later became Hewlett-Packard. He worked for over 30 years at New England Nuclear that later became DuPont.  He retired at 50 from DuPont. He later retired as Executive Director from NEC Corporation.

Most precious to him was time spent at his home in Merry Meeting Lake in New Hampshire. He created a home for his family and friends to enjoy.

He will leave a huge void in the lives of many. We will miss his smile, sharp wit and never-ending love for his family.

He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Lorraine (Hayes) Priddle; his children: David T. and Carole Priddle of Pepperell, Debbie and Philip Stewart of Beverly and Darlene and Mark Ferreira of Winthrop;  grandsons: David T. Priddle II and Nicole of Natick, Bert Priddle of Merrimack, N.H. and Carl Priddle of Lima, Peru; step-granddaughter, Sarah and Andrew Channel of Beverly, step-grandson, Russell and  Katie Stewart of Beverly, and step-great-grandchildren, Madeline Channel and Maxwell Stewart of Beverly.

The funeral was conducted from the Caggiano-O’Maley-Frazier Funeral Home, Winthrop on Monday, Feb. 26, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church. Rev. Peter Graziano celebrated the mass and offered prayers at the interment in the Cross Street section of Winthrop Cemetery.
