Judith Lipsett

Retired clerk for Mass Board of Medicine and member of Robert DeLeo Senior Center

Judith M. Lipsett of Belcher Street, Winthrop passed away at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston on June 16. She was 78 years old.

A life long resident of Winthrop, she was a clerk for the Massachusetts Board of Medicine for many years. She was also a member of the Robert DeLeo Senior Center in Winthrop.

Born in Boston, she was the beloved daughter of the late Hilda M. (Dumas) and Paul F. Magee; the devoted wife of the late Roger S. Lipsett, Sr. and the loving mother of Paula Ronan and her husband, Phil of Winthrop, Ginny Caples and her husband, Sean of Lexington, Cheryle McCashion and her husband, Joseph of East Boston, Dawn Marie Lipsett and her fiancé, Owen Kane of Winthrop, Roger S. Lipsett, Jr. of Winthrop and Joey Kelly of Winthrop; dear sister of Paula Trainor of Wakefield, Jerry Magee of Winthrop and the late Frances Ancillo and the cherished grandmother of Eric, Ryan, Brendan, Shawn, Shane, Dylan, John, Trevor, Samantha and Michael.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the Caggiano-O’Maley-Frazier Funeral Home, 147 Winthrop St., Winthrop today, Thursday, June 22 from 4 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Friday, June 23 at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church, 320 Winthrop St., Winthrop at 10 a.m. Interment to follow the mass will be in the Belle Isle section of Winthrop Cemetery. Mary Tranfaglia

Of Winthrop

Mary (Cataldo) Tranfaglia of Winthrop peacefully passed away on June 14 after a long illness. She was 95 years old.

Mary was educated in the Winthrop school system and attended Burdett College before being employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. In her later years she worked at Michael’s Mall in Winthrop at the Hallmark store where she knew everyone by name. Mary was a member of the Ladies Lodge of the Sons of Italy and an avid reader in her spare time.

Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband of 52 years, Guy Tranfaglia. She was the daughter of the late Domenic and Pasqualina “Lena” (Lamonica) Cataldo; the loving mother of Richard and his wife, Kathleen of Peabody and Michael and his wife, Mary Anne of Cape Elizabeth, Maine; the proud grandmother of her five grandchildren: Kate Riordan, and her husband, Michael of Methuen, Richard Tranfaglia and James Tranfaglia, both of Lynnfield, Anna Tranfaglia of Philadelphia and John Tranfaglia of Washington D.C. She was the great grandmother of Jack Tranfaglia of Lynnfield and is also survived by her dear sisters-in-law: Frances Cataldo of Revere and Mary Tranfaglia of Revere; her devoted brother-in-law, Henry Tranfaglia of Revere and by many cherished nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Anthony and Carmen.

Her funeral was conducted from the Caggiano-O’Maley-Frazier Funeral Home, Winthrop on Tuesday, June 20 followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church. Rev.
