Dorothy Gaddis
Of Florida, formerly of Winthrop
Dorothy J. (Welch) Gaddis of Naples, Florida, formerly of Winthrop and Dorchester, died on February 12.
Dorothy was born in 1942, the daughter of Francis and Dorothy (Cheffro) Welch. She was raised in Dorchester and graduated from Mt. Saint Joseph Academy in Brighton. In 1960, she joined the U. S. Air Force and it was there she met Bill, her husband of 56 years. Dorothy and Bill raised their family in Winthrop and upon retirement resided in Arizona, Nevada and Naples, Florida. In Arizona, Dorothy enjoyed tap dancing with the Sun City West Rhythm Tappers and throughout retirement, she traveled the world. But what gave her the most joy was being a cherished housewife and mother.
She was preceded into rest by her beloved daughter, Kristine. She leaves her husband, Bill and her adored son, Scott and his loving family, daughter-in-law Nicole and grandchildren Katrina, James and Jack Gaddis of Wayland, as well as dear nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held from the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home, 210 Winthrop St., Winthrop on Monday, February 27 at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church-Winthrop at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial will follow in Winthrop Cemetery (Belle Isle Section).
