Nancy DeModena

Long time hair stylist

Nancy J. DeModena, formerly of Winthrop Street, Winthrop passed away at the Queen Anne Nursing Home in Hingham on December 21. She was 98 years old.

Born in Boston, the beloved daughter of the late Vincenza (Cuoco) and Giacondo Grifoni, she was a long time resident of Winthrop. She worked for many years as a hair stylist and was a late member of the Winthrop Catholic Women’s Club and the Cottage Park Yacht Club Ladies Bowling League.

She was the devoted wife of the late Silvio DeModena and the loving mother of Marietta Burns and her husband, Richard of Hingham;  the dear sister of Anthony Grifoni of East Boston, Vincent Grifoni of Peabody and the late Pat Grifoni, Joseph Grifoni, Salvatore Grifoni, Gina Piwowarski, Nicki Turner, Gilda Hallmark and Rosalie Colvin and the cherished grandmother of Robert D. Burns. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Her funeral was conducted from the Ernest P. Caggiano and Son-O’Maley-Frazier Funeral Home, Winthrop on Wednesday, December 28 followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church, Winthrop. Interment followed the mass in the Belle Isle section of Winthrop Cemetery. William Cleary II

Barber and former Federal Express employee

William F. Cleary of Winthrop, born on January 4, 1942, passed away surrounded by loved ones

on December 19 at the age of 74.

He was the beloved husband of the late Elaine S. Cleary who passed after a long fight with cancer on September 27, 2016.

The Cleary family lived on Wave Way Avenue for  most of their lives until just recently moving.  William was a barber and he worked for Federal Express for over 10 years.

William II was the son of William F. Cleary I and Mary Cleary, both of Winthrop.  He lives on through his brother, Jackie Cleary; his children: William F. Cleary III, Kelly A. Cleary, Jackie Cefalo and her husband, Jimmy Cefalo,  Kevin D. Cleary, Marianne Murray and her husband, Chris Murray  and Brian Cleary and his girlfriend, Andrea White. He was the grandfather of Christopher Cleary, Scotty Cleary, Amanda Hodgkins, Alex Hodgkins, Danielle Cleary, Stephen Cefalo, James Cefalo, Alicia Cefalo, Hunter Cleary, Tyler Murray, Gemma Murray and Ayden Murray.

Death can only part you from the person you love temporarily until finally you reunite with them in heaven forever. Together again for  eternity Bill and Laney.

Lawrence G. ‘Larry’ Bradley of Winthrop unexpectedly passed away at the age of 57 on December 20.

Larry was owner/operator of F/V

Sandy B. He was a member and Past Commodore of the Cottage Park Yacht Club in

Winthrop, a member of the Mass. Lobsterman’s Association and the Winthrop Harbor Management Committee.

He was the beloved husband of Sandra L. “Sandy”

(Hubbard) Bradley; devoted father to Alexandra E. Bradley and Genevieve C. Bradley. Born in Newton, he was the cherished son of Charles and Elizabeth (DeLuca) Bradley of Winthrop; dear brother of Diane Tricomi and her husband, Bruce of Marston

Mills and Kristen Bradley and her husband, Neil Desmond of Methuen.

Funeral arrangements were by the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home, Winthrop. A Funeral Mass was celebrated in St. John the Evangelist Church-Winthrop on Tuesday, December 27 and cremation was private. Donations in his memory can be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
