James Glazier

Of Winchester, formerly of Winthrop

James E. Glazier of Winchester, formerly of Winthrop, passed away suddenly at the age of 56 on November 1.

The devoted father of William J., Kevin D., and Scott S. Glazier of Winchester, he was born in Winthrop, the cherished son of Phyllis (Donovan) Glazier of Saugus and the late David Glazier; dear brother of Robert T. Glazier and his wife, Pastora of Derry, NH, David M. Glazier of Pittsfield, Dianne T. Burns of Lunenburg, Denise M. Stidham and her husband, Jonathan of Braintree and the late William M. Glazier and the former husband of Susan E. (Cammarata) Glazier of Winchester.

Funeral arrangements were by the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home, Winthrop. A Funeral Mass was celebrated in St. John the Evangelist Church in Winthrop and burial followed in Winthrop Cemetery (Belle Isle Section). For guestbook, please visit, www.mauricekirbyfh.com.

Roy Corkhum

Past Commander of Winthrop DAV Chapter 91

Roy W. Corkhum of Quincy, formerly of Winthrop, passed away at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth on October 24. He was 87 years old.

Born in Everett and raised in Winthrop, he was a graduate of Winthrop High School and a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was employed by the Pneumatic Scale Company of Quincy as a stock adjustor for 25 years.

Roy was a resident of Weymouth, moved to Carver in 2000 and then moved to Fenno House in Quincy six years ago. He was an active member of St. Chrysostom’s Episcopal Church in Wollaston and a former member of a church committee and a Sunday School teacher at Pilgrim Congregational Church in North Weymouth.  Roy was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Post #1 in Boston and a Past Commander of the DAV Chapter 91 in Winthrop.

The husband of the late Florence (Crowell) Corkhum who passed away in 1999, he is survived by his loving daughters: Gail E. Murphy and her husband, Robert of Plymouth, Judith E. Corkhum of Maryland and Deanna M. DeAmicis of Quincy. H is also survived by six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He is the brother of James R. Corkhum and Kathleen M. Leavy, both of Winthrop. He was also the brother of the late Burton Corkhum and Joan Palmer.

A service was held at St. Chrysostom Church, Wollaston with the Rev. Eric Hillegas officiating. Burial was in Old North Cemetery, North Weymouth. In lieu of flowers, Roy’s family would appreciate donations to the DAV National HQ, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
