A Sip of Winthrop is November 4

 Guests are invited to enjoy sampling dozens of wines from around the world as well as specialty craft beers at the ninth annual, “A Sip of Winthrop.”.  Experience an evening of the Red, The White and The Brew. There will also be delicious hors d’oeuvres, chocolate & wine pairing, raffles, music and merry mingling.

With the guidance of experts, exquisite wines will be tasted from the finest vineyards in France, Italy, Argentina, Chile, Germany, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, and Napa Valley.  Local breweries will also have knowledgeable representatives with diverse samples of locally crafted beers.

“A Sip of Winthrop” takes place Friday, November 4, from 7:00 – 9:00 pm at Cottage Park Yacht Club, 76 Orlando Ave., Winthrop.  Tickets are $35.00 and include a commemorative wine glass.

This event is often sold out early so don’t miss out on getting your tickets.  No one under 21 years of age will be admitted.  This event is a fundraiser for the Winthrop Chamber of Commerce.

LOCAL STUDENTS GRADUATE FROM BU

Boston University awarded academic degrees to 1,645    students in September 2016.

Receiving degrees were Winthrop students Wilson Rey, Bachelor of Science in Computer Science;  Chris J. St.hilaire, Master of Music in Music Education; Jillian Dempsey, Master of Education in Curriculum and Teaching.

Community Workshop planned

The Winthrop Centre Business District and Middle School Vision community workshop will be held on Thursday, Nov. 10 from 7-9 p.m. at the Winthrop Senior Center, 35 Harvard St., Winthrop. At the meeting, ideas about the old Middle School and Centre Business District will be discussed

Story Time

Story time is held on Friday mornings at Winthrop Public Library, 2 Metcalf Square.in the Children’s Room. Infant and toddlers can come 10:30-11 a.m. and preschoolers (3-5 years old) from 11:30 a.m. to noon.

Country Fair Nov. 10

The Winthrop High School Junior Class will hold its Annual Country Fair on Thursday, Nov. 10 at St. John’s The Evangelist School Hall, Lincoln Street entrance from 6 – 10 p.m. $5 entrance fee includes refreshments and fund. Free gift for the first 50 people. Lots of raffles.
