Town Democratic Committee Cookout

There was a friendly gathering Sunday of the Winthrop Town Democratic Committee in the parking lot of the Robert A. DeLeo Senior Center. Committee Chair Kathy DelVento and her group hosted a nice event for the town’s Democrats and there was some delicious barbecued foods that were enjoyed by the many guests.

Speaker of the House Robert A. DeLeo and State Sen. Joseph Boncore were on hand, as were School Committeeman and Democratic State Committeeman Tino Capobianco, and Democratic State Committeewoman Alicia DelVento, the daughter of Town Council Nick DelVento and Cathy DelVento. Also making an appearance were Democratic supporter and ace campaign organizer Donna Segreti Reilly and her husband, former Town Council President Thomas Reilly. Sheriff Steve Tompkis also attended the event.

It was a nice affair during what is an exciting time for the party, as Hillary Clinton seeks to become the first woman to hold the office of President of the United States. The Massachusetts Democratic Party is strong and vibrant and we can thank Speaker DeLeo for his outstanding leadership on Beacon Hill, standing up for residents across the Commonwealth. The great thing about Bob is that — despite his schedule being packed with events state-wide — he’s always been there for Winthrop residents. In the upcoming months, we can expect to see him rooting on Sean Driscoll’s title-contending Winthrop High football team this fall, for whom the Speaker once again will be generously sponsoring a team dinner, as he has done every season for many years.
