Mary Bacigalupo

Of Winthrop, formerly of East Boston

Mary L. Bacigalupo of Morton Street, Winthrop passed away at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on April 10. She was 84 years old.

Born in East Boston, the beloved daughter of the late Elizabeth (Recchia) and Vincenzo Paolini, she grew up on Cottage Street in East Boston  and was a graduate of East Boston High School. She has resided in Winthrop since 1946.

The devoted wife of George “Red” Bacigalupo and the loving mother of Carol Costello and her husband, Pat of Winthrop, George Bacigalupo and his wife, Janine of North Reading, James Bacigalupo and his wife, Diana of Winthrop, Mary DeStefano of New Hampshire and John Bacigalupo of Winthrop; dear sister of Frank Paolini of Westminster, she was the cherished grandmother of Michael, Matthew, Kristen, Laura, Bridget, Keith, James, Daniel, Elizabeth, Mark, Stephanie, Brooke and Emily and is also survived by nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be conducted from the Ernest P. Caggiano and Son-O’Maley Funeral Home, Winthrop today, Thursday, April 14 at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church, 320 Winthrop St., Winthrop at 10 a.m. Interment to follow the mass will be in the Belle Isle section of Winthrop Cemetery. Karen Bodvar

Longtime LPN at Chelsea Soldier’s Home

Karen J. Bodvar of Beacon Street, Winthrop passed away at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on April 6. She was 59 years old.

Born in Boston, she was the beloved daughter of Patricia (Reardon) and the late Herbert Grover. A life long resident of Winthrop, she worked as a L.P.N. at the Chelsea Soldier’s Home for many years.

She was the devoted wife of Paul J. Bodvar, Sr. and the loving mother of Paul J. Bodvar, Jr. and his wife, Amanda of Malden and Timothy W. Bodvar and his fiance, Krystin Antonious of Winthrop; dear sister of Richard Grover of Everett, John Grover of Winthrop and the late Billy Grover; cherished grandmother of Timothy; step mother of April Bodvar of Winthrop and step grandmother to John and Gianna Knapp. She is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.

Her funeral was conducted from the Ernest P. Caggiano and Son-O’Maley Funeral Home, Winthrop on April 12 followed by a funeral mass in St. John the Evangelist Church. Rev. Charles Keenan

Of Winthrop

Charles Keenan of Overlook Drive, Winthrop passed away at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford on April 6. He was 77 years old.

Born in Malden, the beloved son of the late Mary (Waldron) and Charles Keenan, he was a resident of Winthrop for over 25 years and worked in the kitchen of Lynn Hospital for many years.

He was the devoted husband of the late Irvina (Nobole) and the dear brother of John Keenan of Everett.

Laurie Malveira

Of Winthrop

Laurie L. Malveira of Cutler St., Winthrop passed away at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on April 6. She was 45 years old.

Born in Revere, she was the beloved daughter of Leona (Botchie) and Salvatore Correa. She grew up in Chelsea and moved to Winthrop over eight years ago. For several years she worked in the real estate market doing property preservation.

She was the devoted wife of Frederick Torres and the loving mother of Stephanie Malveira of Winthrop, Aviva Malveira of New York, Kaycee Correa and James Torres, both of Winthrop; dear sister of John Fisher and his wife, Michelle of Peabody and Rick Fischer and his wife, Patty of South Boston and the loving aunt of Johnna Fisher of Winthrop.

Member of Winthrop Senior Center

Barbara A. (Boushell) Sirois of Winthrop passed away on April 3 at the age of 93.

The beloved wife of 74 years of Roger J. Sirois, Barbara was a member of the Winthrop Senior Center where she enjoyed heading out on many of their bowling outings. Barbara and Roger vacationed in Maine for many years. She also enjoyed gardening and traveling, but most of all spending time with her loving family.

Born in Medford, she was the cherished daughter of the late Edward and Muriel (Green) Boushell; devoted mother of Yvonne Westcott and her husband, Tom and Paulette O’Brien and her husband, Dave, all of Winthrop and Roger J. Sirois Jr. and his wife, Linda and Mark Sirois and his wife, Linda, all of Ipswich; adored “Gram” of 13 grandchildren and “Great Gram” of eight great-grandchildren. She was the dear sister of Marie Skomro and her late husband, Frank of Winthrop, Robert Boushell and his wife, Mary Frances of Georgia, the late Edward Boushell and sister-in-law of Josephine Boushell of Lynnfield. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were by the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home, Winthrop.   Burial was in Winthrop Cemetery (Belle Isle Section). Memorial donations in her name can be made to the Robert A. Former proprietor of Allied Fuel and the Deilla Room in Winthrop

Wilfred J. Pelletier Sr., age 78, of Edgewater, Florida, formerly of Winthrop, passed away Friday April 9 at Florida Hospital New Smyrna Beach.

He was born in Boston to the late Wilfred and Olive (Hamel) Pelletier on July 20, 1937 and was a member of St. Gerards Mission Church, Hacienda del Rio Veterans group. Mr. Pelletier served in the U.S. Navy as a frogman, in today’s service that would be a Navy Seal. He was a Boy Scout, Scout Master, a member of the Elks Club and police auxiliary, both while in Winthrop. Mr. Pelletier especially enjoyed shuffle board becoming one of the first 20 people to be inducted into the Northern District Hall of Fame. He was the former proprietor of Allied Fuel and the Deilla Room in Winthrop for many years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Laura Pelletier. He was the loving father of Wilfred J.Pelletier Jr. and his wife, Laura of Lancaster, Gary Pelletier and his wife, Lisa and Donna Marie Dowson and her husband, Steven, all of Winthrop; cherished grandfather of Joseph Pelletier of Winthrop, Jennifer Kenney and her husband, Carl of South Boston, Julie and Jessica Dowson of Winthrop, Amanda Pelletier of Winthrop and Catherine Pelletier of Lancaster; great grandfather of Grace Claire Kenney; dear brother of Roberta Bredenof Edgewater, FL and Judith Cross of New Smyrna Beach, FL.
