Condolences to the Rutherford Family

We extend our condolences to the family of longtime Winthrop resident Judith A. Rutherford, who passed away February 20.

Mrs. Rutherford was a well-known employee for many years at the former Winthrop Federal Credit Union and the Webster First Federal Credit Union. She and her husband, the late Bill Rutherford, were great supporters of Winthrop youth sports programs. Mr. Rutherford served admirably as the commissioner of the Winthrop Youth Hockey Association. Mrs. Rutherford kept the family’s tradition of support going with the annual presentation of the William J. Rutherford Memorial Trophy to the most valuable player in the Winthrop-Revere Thanksgiving football game. The family also donates a scholarship to a Winthrop High School graduate.

The Rutherfords are a great Winthrop family and we were blessed to have Mrs. Rutherford living in our town and contributing so much to the advancement of our youth and the community at-large.
