On this election
Last month I commented on national politics, but it’s important to note that local politics are equally important, if not more so. Tonight I have the honor and privilege of meeting Lydia Edwards, candidate for our coveted State Senate seat. Since Petruccelli has stepped down to pursue a career as a lobbyist, several candidates have stepped forward to fill his seat. Though each candidate brings something special to the table, no candidate is better qualified to represent the strong, diverse Eastie/Winthrop centered Senate district like Lydia Edwards. Without meeting her face to face, I can already feel the same grassroots energy surging Bernie Sanders in the Presidential election… and it’s brewing underneath Lydia. She’s young, tri-lingual, hyper-educated, progressive, and ready to challenge the status quo on Beacon Hill to represent the increasingly diverse demographics in our district.
Regardless of the candidate I throw my support behind, I strongly encourage that you research each of the candidates: Lydia Edwards, Diana Hwang, Jay Livingstone, Dan Rizzo, and Joe Boncore. The primary election takes place on April 12th of this year. I’ll see you at the polls!
