Thomas Haffner Sr.

Retired Boston Public Schools Science Technician; member of Winthrop Elks

Thomas G. Haffner, Sr. of Walden Street, Winthrop passed away at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on October 13. He was 65 years old.

Born in Boston, the beloved son of the late Christine (Higgins) and George Haffner, he was a resident of East Boston for many years and has resided in Winthrop for the past 20 years. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a Science Technician for the Boston Public Schools. He was also a member of the Winthrop Lodge of Elks.

He was the devoted husband of Linda M. (Neumyer) and the loving father of William R. Sacco and his wife, Lisa of Wilmington, Thomas G. Haffner, Jr. and his wife, Rosa of Andover, Brian G. Haffner of Malden and Stacey L. Forster and her husband, Stephen of Winthrop;; dear brother of Richard Severin of New Hampshire, Geraldine Antonelli of South Boston, Christine Lonano and her husband, Anthony of South Boston and the late George Haffner, John Haffner and Robert Severin. He was the cherished grandfather of Brandon and Alec Haffner and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the Ernest P. Caggiano and Son-O’Maley Funeral Home, Winthrop, today, Thursday, October 15 from 4 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Friday, October 16 at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church 320 Winthrop St., Winthrop at 10 a.m. Interment to follow the mass will be in the Belle Isle section of Winthrop Cemetery. Michael ‘Ben’ Hogan

Of Wilbraham

Michael ‘Ben’ Hogan of Wilbraham, loving and devoted husband of Louise Pelletier, father of Mycah, Wyatt, and Ashley and brother of Elizabeth, Thomas and Richard, passed away on Friday, September 25  at the age of 62.

A memorial service to celebrate and honor his life will be held on Sunday, November 1 at 12 p.m. in Leonard Hall at the University of New England in Biddeford, Maine. Friends and family are invited to share stories and reflections at a reception immediately following the service. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden is assisting the family with arrangements.
