If you’ve lived in Winthrop for the past 30 years, then you know Pat Milano and the tremendous impact she has made in our community in her various roles as a member of the Winthrop School Committee, co-founder of the Kathy’s Place Youth Center, and as the executive director of Community Against Substance Abuse (CASA). Her work at CASA was monumental in bringing the focus to drug and alcohol prevention programs among teenagers in the town. Pat was able to secure a $1 million grant that helped implement ideas to help our teenagers. Pat’s summer peer mentoring program and youth employment program at Kathy’s Place Youth Center are other major accomplishments.
We also remember Pat’s enthusiasm for her service on the Winthrop School Committee, always working hard to improve the educational experience of each student in the school system. Her great support of Winthrop High School sports teams and being there to root on her children’s Viking teams was also something that we admired. Pat immersed herself in all aspects of life in this town and we’re so appreciative of all she did to make Winthrop a better place.
We wish Pat, a proud graduate of Yale University, all the best in her new life in Florida.
