Jackie Burke
We extend our condolences to the family of Jackie Burke, a Winthrop High School hockey legend, who recently passed way. Jackie helped lead the Vikings to the Division 1 state championship in 1976 and was an outstanding hockey player whose teammates admired his competitiveness and skill. His teamwork on the Vikings’ first line with Joey and Bobby McDonald was extraordinary.
It was an unforgettable season in which the team from the small town of Winthrop conquered every challenger in its path, culminating with a state title at old Boston Garden.
Thank you, Jackie Burke, for all the thrills and excitement you brought to this town on your way to competing for the Harvard University hockey program.
