Thank You, Dr. Bornstein

Winthrop soon will be losing one of its most esteemed residents when Dr. Robert Bornstein makes the move with his wife Barbara to the Houston area. Both here and in the nearby city of Chelsea, Dr. Bornstein truly is known as a legendary, larger-than-life figure. Dr. Bornstein has been a pediatrician for the past 50 years, a span of five decades during which generations of parents have depended on his expertise in medicine in the care of their children. Dr. Bornstein went well above and beyond the call of his esteemed profession, making house calls and always being there to provide advice and treatment in a time of medical emergencies and other vital, health-related situations. Dr. Bornstein has made a difference in people’s lives, not only in his medical practice, but as a philanthropist whose charitable efforts have been recognized by many organizations. He was professional in every sense of the word.  Dr. Bornstein raised his family in Winthrop and will be joining his son, Dr. Michael (who was a Winthrop High track star under the direction of coach Pat McGee in the early 1980s and was his class valedictorian before going on to attend Harvard and Boston University School of Medicine), in his pediatric practice in Houston.  We know we join with all of our fellow residents in wishing Dr. Bornstein and Barbara the best in the years ahead as they depart our little town and set sail for Houston.
