Skimming the Sidelines

NO PACKING DOWN is a recently released book written by Sean Stellato. Sean is a sports agent with several NFL clients. Sean was the quarterback  on the 1994 Salem High School football team.  The Witches had an undefeated season and captured the NEC Title.

The book focuses on the 11 day teachers’ strike that lead to the firing of Coach Ken Perrone.  Salem won three dramatic last-play victories, including a (22-21)  win over the Winthrop Vikings at Miller Field.

Speaking of coaches, I had lunch recently with Ira Yavner, WHS fullback in 1962.  Ira had a successful head coaching career at Manchester High School and Wakefield High School. Ira lives in Gloucester.

LET THE GAMES BEGIN!
