Winthrop Police Chief Terence Delehanty this week called his department’s apprehension of a breaking and entering suspect “good old-fashioned police work.†An individual had broken into two Winthrop homes and may have been involved in incidents in other communities as well. The break-ins occurred last Thursday and Friday, but by Sunday the individual believed to be responsible for these incidents was under arrest.
Detectives Tim Callinan and Wayne Carter were able to quickly follow up on some leads and build a case where they were then able to track down this individual and put a stop to his nefarious intentions on our neighborhoods.
These incidents show that there are people out there who will  boldly enter a person’s residences and steal possessions and that threat is very real in today’s society. It is a scary thought that in a community like Winthrop that is considered safe (and was once tabbed one of the safest communities in the country by a national magazine years ago),  that you could enter your home or your apartment or your condominium and find a stranger attempting to steal your cherished personal items and belongings.
Thanks to the work of the Winthrop Police Department, the individual responsible for these incidents will no longer be on the streets of our town looking to commit more of these crimes.
Thank you to Chief Delehanty and his department for keeping Winthrop safe 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. There is no day off for the men and women of the Winthrop Police Department.
