Domenic Marino

Pitched for Brooklyn Dodgers; Retired Prudential Insurance Regional Manager

Domenic P. Marino of Laconia, New Hampshire, Newport Richey, Florida and formerly of Winthrop passed away at the Massachusetts General Hospital on April 21 after a brief illness. He was 89 years old.

Born in Boston, he was the beloved son of the late Louise (Tennaro) and Prospero Marino. A resident of Winthrop for many years, he was an All Scholastic High School Athlete who signed his first professional baseball contract as a pitcher in 1946 with the Brooklyn Dodgers. He was employed at Prudential Insurance, working his way up to Regional Manager prior to his retirement. After his retirement, he split time between his homes in Laconia, New Hampshire and Newport Richey, Florida. He was also a former member of the Holy Name Society.

He was the devoted husband of the late Temi (Guidi) and the loving father of Mary Doolan and her husband, Peter of Marshfield Hills, Stephen Marino and his wife, Mary of Reading and Domenic Marino, Jr. and his wife, Kathy of Methuen; dear brother of Frances Cataldo of Revere; cherished grandfather of Elizabeth, Jennifer, Jessica, Kimberly, Victoria and Matthew. He was the longtime friend of Virginia O’Connell of Meredith, New Hampshire and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the Caggiano Funeral Home, Winthrop on Friday, April 25 from 4 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Saturday, April 26, at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church, 320 Winthrop St., Winthrop at 10 a.m. Interment will follow the Mass in the Cross Street section of Winthrop Cemetery. Frances Coutinho

Registered Nurse, educator, poet and artist

Frances M. Coutinho of Hopkinton passed away peacefully on April 15 surrounded by her loving family. She was 96 years old.

A lifelong learner, Frances was a Registered Nurse, award winning educator, published poet, and accomplished artist.

She was the beloved wife of the late Manuel N. Coutinho and devoted mother of Anne-Marie Moore, Barbara Coutinho and her husband, Thomas Williams, Cissy Coutinho and Michael Childs, John Coutinho and his wife, Brenda and Paul Coutinho and his fiancé, Paula Kwerder. She also leaves seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren as well as many extended family members and devoted friends. She was the sister of Dolores Murphy and the late John Cancian.
