Football will be the main dish on the menu Thanksgiving Day when Revere and Winthrop renew their ancient rivalry at Miller Field in what promises to be a hard-fought and exciting battle between two evenly-matched teams.
Although the weatherman is forecasting a blustery day with gusty winds and cold temperatures, let’s admit it, that’s half the fun of watching a Revere-Winthrop football game at 10:00 on a Thanksgiving morning.
WHS head coach Sean Driscoll will have his Vikings fired up to conclude their season on a high note, which also will give Winthrop, which comes into the game with a 5-5 record, a winning 2013 campaign.
This year’s contest marks the 100 year anniversary of the Winthrop-Revere rivalry and we hope as many local fans as possible will make the trip to Miller Field to fill up the stands to root on our Vikings. We also trust that Winthrop fans will act respectfully and represent our community well.
Let’s go Winthrop — beat Revere!
