Louis J. Visco

Of Winthrop

Louis J. Visco of Winthrop died at the New England Baptist Hospital, Boston on Monday, September 9, 2013. He was 87 years old. Born in East Boston, the loving son of the late Frank and Domenica Visco, he resided in East Boston prior to moving to Winthrop 54 years ago. Before his retirement he was a longtime Technology Writer for the Arthur D. Little Company. He was a combat Army Veteran of World War II serving in France and was awarded the Purple Heart.He was a graduate of Boston College, Class of 1949 and furthered his eduication with a Masters Degree. He was a member of the 87th Infantry Division Association, Post 146 American Legion, Disabled American Veterans Post 77 and a Past Grand Knight and devoted member of Winthrop Council 162, Knights of Columbus. He was the beloved husband of the Late Irene (Picceo) Visco, the devoted father of Mark Visco, David Visco & his wife Rose, & Lisa Visco Miller all of Winthrop & the late Stephen & David Michael Visco. He was the cherished “Papa” of Kristine Visco of New Hampshire, Stephen Alfred Visco of Brighton, Kristin & Michael Visco of Winthrop, Amber Miller of Winthrop & Jodi & Deanna Indorato of Winthrop. Great Grandfather of Domenic & Sarah Irene Thornhill. He was the dear brother of Carmella Wessling of Winthrop & Joseph Visco of Lynnfield. He is also survived by many nieces & nephews. His funeral will be conducted from the Ernest P. Caggiano & Son – O’Maley Funeral Home, 147 Winthrop St., Winthrop on Saturday at 9:00 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in S. John the Evangelist Church, 320 Winthrop St. Winthrop at 10:00 AM. Interment with Military Honors will follow in the Cross St. Section of Winthrop Cemetery. Family & friends are cordially invited to the funeral and visitation at the Funeral Home on Friday from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. Memorial donations may be sent to the Jimmy Fund, 375 Longwood Ave., Boston, MA 02115.
