Local Groups Join Forces to Create New Recreation Center: Fundraiser Planned for August 24

The Viking Pride Foundation, along with The Larry Larsen Rink at the Mike Eruzione Center and Winthrop Parks and Recreation, are joining efforts to create a new spring/summer recreation center. The rink facility is not utilized between mid-April through mid-August, and it is the goal of the Viking Pride Foundation to create a venue for our kids to go and participate in organized recreational activities during the spring and summer months.  Creating a fun and safe place for our kids is a top priority, so we ask you to join us in supporting this very important initiative.

To help support this effort, defray the costs of the floor and equipment needed to get the recreation center up and running, and to further our Foundation’s mission, the Viking Pride Foundation is sponsoring “The Summer Chiller” event on Saturday, August 24th from 7-11PM at The Larry Larsen Rink at the Mike Eruzione Center. The Summer Chiller will include entertainment by “Guilty Pleasure”, New England’s premiere dance band, as well as food, drinks, raffles, and other fun activities.  “Guilty Pleasure” performs across New England, including recent performances at Foxwoods, Twin River Casino and the Hard Rock Cafe. This event will also give you the opportunity to check out the new floor purchased by theViking Pride Foundation which was the key first step in getting this recreation center started.  Most importantly, it once again gives Winthrop a forum to come together as a community for a great night of music and dancing, with the continued goal of ensuring the youth of Winthrop have the best co-curricular experiences available to them.  All proceeds from this event will be going directly exclusively to the new recreation center.

If you’re feeling lucky, there will be a‚ “High Rollers Raffle‚” with only 100 raffle tickets being sold for $100 apiece.  At the night of the event, the winner will be pulled for a $5,000 prize. There will also be many silent auction items, including the featured‚ Grand Silent Auction Prize, which is a one week stay at the Christmas Tree Inn in Vermont.  The Christmas Tree Inn sleeps 40 people and is one mile from Sugarbush Resort.  For details on the many amenities and and area activities this resort offers to go www.christmastreeinn.com. Gather your extended family and friends for a week of rest and relaxation as you hit the slopes or partake in the many outdoor activities.  The Christmas Tree Inn will allow for a memorable vacation with a large group of people closest to you, while simultaneously knowing the cost of your wonderful trip will go directly back into the Recreation Center for your community. If you are a local business that wants to get behind this new Recreation Center for our youth, sponsorships are currently being offered in the following denominations, all of which will be acknowledged in event advertisements and at the event itself:

$5,000 (Gold – includes two tables of 10 for the sponsor).

$2,500 (Silver – includes a table of 10 for sponsor)
