Lifeguard at Yirrell: An Idea Whose Time Has Come

Councilor-at-Large Phil Boncore always is looking out for the best interests and safety of our townspeople. Boncore was the lone dissenter to the sanitation fitness ordinance concerning the inspection of apartments in town and held firm to his beliefs that the inspections may be unconstitutional — although his colleagues felt strongly otherwise and approved the ordinance that had been endorsed by our outstanding public safety leaders, Police Chief Terence Delehanty and Fire Chief Paul Flanagan. Although we may not agree with Boncore on this important issue of public safety, Boncore presented his reasons for his strong opposition to it.

But Boncore didn’t let that issue distract from his ongoing work on behalf of our residents and he has requested for consideration the placement of a lifeguard at Yirrell Beach. Our town manager, James McKenna, said he will look into the matter of implementing the proposal.
