Congratulations, Chris Leblanc: Former Viking Star Has Been Selected in the NHL Draft

We join the Winthrop sports community in congratulating Winthrop High graduate Chris LeBlanc on his selection by the Ottawa Senators in the National Hockey League Draft.

This is a tremendous honor for a young man who devoted so many hours to learning the game and developing his skills. And it all began at the Larsen Rink at the Mike Eruzione Center, still one of the great treasures in our town where so many boys and girls are introduced to ice skating and ice hockey.

What’s also noteworthy is that Chris LeBlanc completed his career at Winthrop High School, underlining that you can stay and play public school hockey and continue on the path to Division 1 college hockey and the fantastic achievement of being one of the top players in your age group in the world, resulting in the opportunity to play someday in the world’s greatest hockey league, the NHL.

Sure, we wish the Bruins had selected our Winthrop hockey star, but we’ll be following Chris LeBlanc’s career at Merrimack College and then when the Senators come to Boston to play the Bruins, we’ll be rooting for Chris all the way.
