Thank You, Senator Petruccelli : Winthrop Youths Enjoy Free Tennis Clinic

We know our state senator, Anthony Petruccelli, was an excellent athlete himself, having excelled in multiple sports at Boston College High School and continuing his football career at the University of Rochester. He know he was a super baseball player. but we didn’t know that he had an affinity for tennis. But his work in bringing a free tennis program to the town that was enjoyed by many youths was certainly a welcome and much-appreciated addition to the summer recreational offerings.

Sen. Petruccelli has always been a great friend to Winthrop and he has become an outstanding supporter of WHS teams, the Viking Pride Foundation, and the new 11 Foundation: In Memory of Michael Mason. The summer tennis program  drew more than 40 youths, a great turnout, and we know we join with them and our fellow Winthrop residents in saying, “Thank you” to Senator Petruccelli for his generosity and initiative in reaching out to our young people and providing them with a healthy and enjoyable endeavor during the summer season.

Tennis program founder Roberto Zanelli was also instrumental in the creation of the program.
